Hope you have fun looking at my creations and other things I love in life.... calligraphy is my passion, but so is my family... consisting of "the love of my life", my hubby, and my three miniature long haired dachshunds. You'll see lots of them here. Loved this quote: There’s something sacred about reading a blog post on someone else’s site. It’s like visiting a friend’s house for a quick meal ’round the breakfast table. It’s personal—you’re in their space, and the environment is uniquely suited for idea exchange and uninterrupted conversation. In many ways, we should be treating our blogs like our breakfast tables. Be welcoming & gracious when you host, and kind & respectful when visiting.” – Trent Walton

Too Much Fun!

I've been playing lots with what I learned at the IAMPETH conference in Phoenix last month  in between the work I have to do. I have sent several cards and notes to family and friends since I got home and received some great responses to them.   I love making people happy with the pen strokes that I create!

This one was for my mother.  She turned the BIGGIE in June and it seems like the Postal Service REALLY loved my envelope and didn't deliver it because it was too pretty (yeah, right!), or it is still with the "Pony Express"...She never received the original one so, I made her another one! THIS one is much nicer than the original one, too!

I also realized that I missed another friend's birthday after seeing it on Facebook and hurriedly created her a beauty that she loved so much that she put it on her Facebook page. I was happy that she liked it, and not only that, but she also "commissioned" me to do a Thank you card for her mother.... See below...

Heather Victoria Held is such a master at this, it's hard for me to look at MY creations with as much pride as I would like to, but I am loving the whole learning process and need, still, to develop that "lighter touch" and "knowing" where to put things. She said it just comes with time and experience. I do know that from working so long and hard on my calligraphy craft.   I love this style, though, and will continue practicing it.

I am in the local CCS envelope exchange and sent my recipient her envie yesterday for August. I know she loves this color envelope and I had so much fun creating the scroll and embellishments.  I used a gray color on the envelope, but it almost looked purple in real life. I hope it gets through the mail all right... usually I take it in and get it hand cancelled, but didn't bother this time.

Here is another card that I made a friend... I hope he enjoys it.  He won't get it till he returns from Italy, though.  It will be a nice surprise awaiting him, I guess.  The only problem is, I was informed, after the fact, that he is only 79 this year.... so, I have decided to send him another card (before he gets home) saying "Happy 79th".  I will tell him that I just didn't want to miss his BIG EIGHT  OH and wanted to be sure it was on time.

I also had to send a THANK YOU to the coordinator, Jenny, of the conference...

  1. You have made remarkable progress over the past few years! Your control of the pointed pen and especially your flourishes are very commendable. Keep up the good work!!
