REMEMBER: You can click on the above logo to get to the most recent posting.... Hope you have fun looking at my creations and other things I love in life.... calligraphy is my passion, but so is my family... consisting of "the love of my life", my hubby, and my three miniature long haired dachshunds. You'll see lots of them here. Loved this quote: There’s something sacred about reading a blog post on someone else’s site. It’s like visiting a friend’s house for a quick meal ’round the breakfast table. It’s personal—you’re in their space, and the environment is uniquely suited for idea exchange and uninterrupted conversation. In many ways, we should be treating our blogs like our breakfast tables. Be welcoming & gracious when you host, and kind & respectful when visiting.” – Trent Walton

So excited!!!

Phoenix in the summer!?  You think I may be crazy, but I'd go to the north pole in the winter (and you know how much I HATE cold weather)  if it meant I could see my bestest friend since grade school, get my hair cut at a Ouidad accredited salon and GO TO THE IAMPETH (pointed pen calligraphy) convention! I LOVE PHOENIX... the Superstition mountains, the beautiful sunsets, the wonderful memories I have shared there, the "oven like" temps whenever you are outside of your house or a/c environment.  It's almost like "home" (Austin) in the summer.  I used to live in Arizona and loved it..even though it was quite far south of Phoenix in Sierra Vista... near the Mexican border and Nogales.... The only thing missing on this trip, though, will be my honey!

I have wanted to attend this convention since the first time I learned of it and picked up a pointed pen after a Gwen Weaver workshop about 10 years ago.  It was eye-opening to see what I had been missing all those years when I only used a broad edged pen.  http://www.iampeth.com/2011_convention.php Here is the link to what IAMPETH is and stands for....
An address circle I did for my mom

Lots of wedding invitations and envelopes are done in the pointed pen style and since one of our best teachers in Austin, Dee Day, has been so gracious to teach our newbies both Spencerian and Copperplate, a great deal of our members are very good at it and quite comfortable with the Pointed pen.  I am very impressed with their abilities, although, knowing Dee's abilities to teach, I really shouldn't be surprised at all.

My bud, Sandy, did this for our guild
in the pointed pen style
Other than that... we haven't planned any other trips so far this year, although I feel one coming in the very near future now that Kev has some vaca time saved up again for this fiscal year.  Wanna come on a cruise with us?  We have been thinking about taking one out of Galveston so we could just drive down there and not have to fly.  I am worried about flying to Phoenix that I will catch something on the plane and then be sick for the week of conference, but we will pray and keep everything crossed that THAT won't happen.
