Just when you THINK you have life all figured out.... it goes and PROVES the wonderful and giving spirit of mankind and loved ones. I guess I could be talking about all the relief help and aid that is going over to Japan for the destruction of their country, but what I am referring to is the sheer love and friendship of three very special ladies in my life. I knew that when we were to choose our next dog that it was going to be special, as I had never really had the chance to find a PUPPY to be my very own. I do remember my dog when I was growing up. As a puppy, she was a "Pest"...so that is what we named her. She grew and grew... and ended up being bigger than me. When she'd jump, she'd just about (and I'm sure did, at times) knock me over.... As she aged, though, we became "pals". What a great and loyal dog she was! She was a full blooded MUTT and I loved her like a "pure bred".

But getting back to my original thought for this post today... out of the blue, I find a posting on Facebook of MY THREE dogs... at first, I couldn't believe it, knowing that there were no other pooches that looked like mine. I was surprised and shocked all at the same time. I thought I was dreaming the first time I saw only PART of the snouts coming together on Bela and Vestal. I was amazed at how accurate they were portrayed on paper with just a few colored pencils. LaNelle, the artist, is something close to AWESOME, but I usually hold that for something HIGHER than a human... if you get my drift... it was CLOSE, though!
I also need to mention this ONE LITTLE DETAIL: LaNelle has NEVER even laid eyes on my dogs in person... only did this via a photograph or two of the dogs which she has seen.
So, I haven't received the actual artwork yet, which come to find out was commissioned by two of my most favorite gals in the world....but am so excited and hope to very soon. The day I met Sharon, the breeder of our three, long- haired, dachshunds (and very dear friend now), I had no idea the connection and love that I would have for this person "outside of my family". She is one of the most loving and sweet persons I have ever met in my life. Our love and relationship has grown and blossomed through thick and thin.

Then, after meeting her friend, Linda... another "classy lady", I was blessed beyond belief. Whodathunk that she would be the GODmother of my Vessie... cutting her cord from her mama, Lady Bug, when she was just to weak to do so herself after delivering three other puppies!? It was a hard pregnancy on her. Linda happened to be there and witness Vessie's birth and we will always have that connection. Linda and John have four of their own from Sharon's "Doxie Love Kennel",
www.thelongandshortofit.com. Sharon and Linda, as well as LaNelle, I'm sure, will always be a part of my life and women who are in a very deep part of my heart. THANK YOU, to all three of you for making my day, my week, my month, my year and LIFE! I am blessed! YOU are truly THE BEST!
