I'm sure you are asking "WHO is that handsome man hugging you, Trish!?" (below, right) Well, it is the Legendary Doc Hamilton. "We're not worthy!!". He is known as a great fiddler and has played with many popular Bluegrass artists. He resides near Austin and we love to see him... every chance we get.... Although he doesn't play fiddle much anymore, he does get in some good licks on the guitar...etc. You can find him many days at the Fiddler's Green on 38th Street near MoPac.
He was at the scramble.Indeed, it was Bluegrass that brought Kevin and I together... if you know the story of how we met, it involved a "Booo Grass Festival" (Oct. 31st, 19993), a common fiddler-friend named Sonny, whom was my teacher at the time and many threads in the Bluegrass world that seemed so naturally woven into both of us that we felt there was a connection instantly.
Kev and I live a fairytale life, I feel, although there is NO such marriage that is a fairytale. It is work, it is play, it is respect and communication. When people see a "Fairytale-like" couple, it usually is because there is a lot of underlying stuff going on that you don't see... you know BEHIND THE SCENES work. Don't get me wrong... we don't have to work THAT hard on ours 'cause we are both pretty easy going and just like the same things, but we've had our ups and downs. How can someone live with another who has a chronic disease with ease!? Hmmmmm...well, I wondered that, too, but where there's a will, there's a way. We love each other in the same way...fully, with all we got! THAT is what makes a marriage work, but BOTH parties have to give that much.
We were married in Las Vegas, of all places, and it was a second wedding for both of us. We wanted to elope since both of us felt like we had our BIG weddings already and wanted to forgo all of that "fluff"--getting down to the core of things that really matter...the vows, the ceremony and commitment. Yeah, we could have done it locally, but that's just the crazy kinda
couple we are.... It was on a whim, although, Kevin sort of had it all planned out way ahead of time (from the moment he met me he said he knew he was going to marry me) how it was going to play out, but we were married in the Castle on the strip, Ex Caliber. Our friends from Austin flew in to celebrate this joyous affair as well as my cousin, Caroline from Hawaii, and Kev's friend Philip, from northern Arizona. It was a regal affair and we all felt like Royalty as we dressed in "Renaissance Garb" that we rented from a costume shop off the strip. It was very difficult finding something that could be rented to FIT ME, which wasn't in the children's birthday party section, but we worked it out.... Only to realize.. Hmmmm, Gee whiz, I am getting married in a RED DRESS... what a hussy! Well, I didn't even think of it at the time since THAT was the only dress that actually fit me half way decent. The "headress" was about as heavy as I was so luckily I didn't have to wear it too long 'cause my cuz brought me a FRESH, beautiful Haku Lei to wear in my hair from the islands.February, 2011, will mark 15 years of wedded bliss. We have had so much fun and made so many friends and memories over they years. My NUMBER ONE pillar is my darling, my family, my husband
of mine! I don’t know what I would do without him! He is my rock and my core and my strength to get through my days… other than my Faith, of course. I love you, baby, if you are reading this! We have been through thick and thin and I am looking forward to more of this magical thing called LIFE with my sweetie! We ARE two peas in a pod!
Here is the wedding party.... Nova Tolleson, Caroline Wright, Trish Taylor, Kathy Tolleson and Chuckles Tolleson...RIP. The Happy Couple!
